HISTORY & OVERVIEW:
Lloyd Barnes was founded in 2004, by 2 of the South West`s most experienced Accountancy Recruitment Directors. Our business now has a large team of industry professionals with over 60 years recruitment experience. From our offices in Exeter we focus solely on the South West recruitment market, numbering many of the region’s leading businesses as long standing clients.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?:
Lloyd Barnes is not a CV factory, firing off irrelevant applicants to roles. We aim to meet with all of our candidates in a semi-formal interview prior to discussing them with our clients. We treat our candidates and our clients with the respect they deserve and always give impartial advice based on our many years of experience
THE UK RECRUITMENT MARKET:
The last quarterly employment survey from ONS showed the South West has record levels of employment and record low levels of unemployment. This is making recruitment harder, as there are fewer quality applicants available and there are early signs of upward pressure on salaries to match increases in inflation. We advise our clients to work fast and smart, pay the market rate and work with us to access the widest and deepest pool of candidates in the region.
We see the most significant trends over the coming years to be:
- Cloud based accounting
- Automation of accounting and processes
- Combining social media strategy with the finance function
- Finance professionals becoming true business partners offering commercial thinking and functional outsourcing

After continued requests from our clients for us to offer candidates in more general roles, we launched Lloyd Barnes Recruitment in January 2017.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Wherever possible we aim to meet with our clients at their premises to discuss any new role, and always meet with our candidates at our offices to discuss their requirements in further detail. This gives us a broader understanding of both the role and the candidate which helps us see beyond the confines of a job description or CV. We take all the hard work out of what can be a tiresome process. After successfully filling a position, we stay in contact with both sides to assist in a smooth transition.
